Bayou Segnette State Park
in Westwego, Louisiana. The park is on the West bank of the Mississippi, 20 minutes from the French Quarter via Business 90, which is an Expressway most of the way. There is a $1.00 toll charge to cross the Mississippi and enter New Orleans, but no charge when exiting the City. The park is large, with a conference center, swimming pool, and separate wave pool and other amenities.. The interior roads are black topped as are all the campsites. The campsites are nestled in the Bayou with nature trails scattered here and there. Each campsite is spacious and well maintained, with water and electric. There is a dump station as you exit the campgrounds. As senior citizens, we paid the princely sum of $6.00 per night----Such a deal! I saw some structures situated in another area of the park, overlooking a Bayou. They reminded me of some of the Condos down at the Lake of the Ozark. When I inquired as to the price, I was told $65.00 per night and they sleep eight. This really was such a deal! |
